Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

 

From the creators of the iconic Dark Souls, From Software return with the much anticipated expansion to the Elden Ring series.

Shadow of the is now available to buy now as a standard and collector’s edition on both PlayStation and Xbox.

Elden Ring Lore

It all takes place in The Lands Between, a realm governed by a spiritual entity known as the Elden Ring. Within these lands, there’s Limgrave, Liurnia, Caelid, Radahn’s Lands, Mt. Gelmir and the Altus Plateau. Each of these regions represent different biomes with their own lore and mysteries to unravel.

Dominated by the majesty of the Erdtree, (a golden tree representing the essence of the world) The Lands Between was once a Kingdom ruled by Queen Marika. That is, until the Queen shattered the Elden Ring for reasons unknown.

Swiftly after the destruction of the Elden Ring, the realm plummeted into chaos. This was led by the dispersal of the Greater Will’s grace in an event known as the ‘Shattering’.

Queen Marika’s offspring, (demigod beings) who once governed the realm, opposed each other in their attempts to claim the shattered Elden Ring and rise to power.

As a result of this conflict, war was waged across the lands. Cosmic disturbances were unleashed, leading to Caelid, one of the regions, being inflicted with the curse of the Scarlet Rot. And if that wasn’t enough, the apocalyptic events spurred the revival of ancient underground civilisations and deities..

Now, the realm is inhabited by horrifying creatures and deadly encounters. Some of which are incredibly challenging to defeat.

As the player, you get to embody the ‘Tarnished’, called upon by grace on a mission to repair the Elden Ring.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Lore

Whilst we don’t know much about the significance of the Land of Shadow, we’re treated to the following prose:

The Land of Shadow.

A place obscured by the Erdtree.

A land purged in an unsung battle.

Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.

It was to this land that Miquella departed.

Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.

Of all things Golden.

And now Miquella awaits.

the return of his promised Lord.

Previously, the story took place in The Lands Between. In this instalment, we get to explore the sinister Land of Shadow - a map replete with dungeons and challenging encounters.

The story is driven by Empyrean Miquella, one of Queen Marika’s offspring, to explore the new map. In the Land of Shadow, first set foot by Marika, we get to uncover the secrets of the world as we meet new characters following in Miquella’s footsteps.

You can unlock new equipment, skills and magic abilities, along with new enemies and boss encounters that deepen the plotline.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Editions
